大理石小龍蝦

母親家的龍蝦媽最近爆B，為了隆重其事，過去的週末特意過去拍照作為留念。這隻蝦媽本來由我養開的，是我眾多龍蝦中最不喜歡的一隻！她是第二代，從出生便開始養。她媽生了一堆共三十多隻的蝦B，這傢伙為求生存把所有兄弟姐妹殺掉，自己獨活！為此，我也不敢把牠跟其他的龍蝦同養！牠在我家沒有得到悉心的照料。。。生青苔，墮蛋樣樣齊，怎知到了母親家卻能開枝散葉，把自己發揚光大！不知道牠的後代會否跟她一樣凶猛。。。。

這隻蝦媽惡到飛天！走近一點立即起「杠」，又走來走去，拍得此照已算幸運。

可見她的肚子下還陀著一堆未爆出來的蝦B。蝦B們隻隻都有鬚有眼，清晰可見。他們在出生後通常都會黏著母親的腳，不會自己彈開的。

這隻是 self cloning 大理石龍蝦，不需要配偶就能夠生蛋。通常在他們一歲多就可以自行繁殖。。。一個 batch 生三十幾隻B，可是存活能夠長大的卻不多於十隻。

蝦媽喜歡把尾部捲起保護蝦蛋。

蝦B出生後最好立即與蝦媽分開，為免蝦媽肚餓把自己的仔女吃掉！

這是剛出生不到幾小時的蝦B們，他們喜歡互相依靠堆成一個波似的。。。可能是因為在母體下也是這樣長大吧。

這好像是第一代蝦媽。。。。蝦B的產量比現在這隻更豐盛。龍蝦們只會在母親家爆蛋，在我家只會墮蛋。。。。。揾笨！

通常見到龍蝦們整理自己的肚子（如圖），就代表她們已經整裝待發準備陀蛋。至於她們怎麼把蛋塞到肚子下面，我就不知道了。

上一個 batch 剛出生不多久的龍蝦B，建議給他們呢一些水藻，如 java moss ，好讓他們能夠依附。

兄弟姐妹們。小龍蝦斷手斷腳都沒有事的，只要退一次殼，所有手手腳腳都會再生長出來。

能夠長大的傢伙不多，這幾隻是兄弟姐妹，比較溫順，所以能夠共養。這些好像是年頭出生的，脫幾次殼已經成年。

在更惡劣的環境裡，龍蝦們都能夠生存的。。。就算身上已經長滿青苔，脫一次殼又能成為一條好漢！不過呢，一定不要讓他們脫殼脫得太快，這樣會縮短他們的壽命。又：龍蝦喜歡往高空發展，在缸裡有什麼最高的東西他們一定爬上去。這隻施展倒掛金鉤呆在生了青苔的水藻下面。

奇怪的傢伙。。。。牠明明是紅色的！脫殼後竟然變成藍色！！牠在脫殼後沒有活多久就升遐了。。。

非洲皇子們，在琴翠園見到的。沒有人在身邊的時候惡霸要做大惡霸，有人在的時候。。。大惡霸都要變鵪鶉！！切～

問：那種魚懂得在任何時候廿四小時都會對你咧嘴在笑？

答：鸚鵡魚！！（＾∇＾）

Blue Crayfish + Miscellaneous

Haven't really been writing blog lately 'coz I didn't eat out much and I don't have any topics to write...  My mom's crayfish finally molted after almost half a year of long wait, and here it is I've taken some pictures of it.  I don't know why Mom's crayfish turned orange after it has molted...it looks awkward to be honest...  Besides those crayfish pictures, I've also included some misc pictures here which I took while I was bored-dead at my mom's place waiting for her 'cake' to be baked...

Here she is, freshly molted for only an hour or so.

Her shell is still soft and she is feeling very insecure, but we don't have her new 'hiding leaf' in stock  at the moment...

She should be electric blue in color but I don't know how she turned into orange after being molted...

Honestly, I don't really know how to differentiate this as a male or a female, but my husband said this is a female....

I was once told that to differentiate a male from a female, just look at it's legs or something...

She is not eating, that's what I can tell!!

It's winter time now and I guess they don't really eat much during the season?!  Or it's because the water temperature is too cold??!

We didn't dare to get her into mating, just don't want both of her claws to be clipped off and eventually killed herself...

I guess crayfish overall has a lifespan of 3 years?!  The slower they molt, the longer lifespan they can get...  This crayfish here only molted for 3 or 4 times over the year.

She hide between those 2 rocks after we've removed her leaf...

Guess what these are!!  Buttons!!!  Yeah...million years old buttons...

Okay, this is what I've been waiting for...  It's a Casava or Casablanca cake whatever it is...didn't taste good to me... 

I was told that this cake is a Philippine dessert.  This thing is very filling, it has a light coconut milk flavor, not very sweet (my mom didn't add a lot of sugar to it), texture...um...like eating hard sticky rice balls...

Sorry to say but this thing is not my cup of tea...

Crayfish Molted Again...

Sept 2, my electric blue crayfish has molted again!  He has molted twice in less than a month and wonder if this is normal...  I expect him to molt every two months or a little less than that, 'coz I know the more he molts, the shorter lifespan he has.  I didn't take out his molted shell for picture this time, I just left it on a leaf and took pictures as is that's it.  His size seems to have grown a bit, and I wonder what's the maximum size he can grow up to.

 The molted shell is still so alien to me even though I've seen it several times.

 I bet you my crayfish is wondering what I'm doing with his molted shell!

 This green is a brussel sprout leaf, which my crayfish likes to hide underneath it.

Sometimes he takes the leaf as food too.

Crayfish Molting

My Electric Blue Crayfish just molted again today.  I still feel very awkward to see it molt....last time it molted was a little more than 2 months ago.  As usual, my husband played with the molted shell and I took pictures of it...  Different from the previous time, the molted shell was kind of 'slimy' at the tail this time (Ewwww......!!!)  I was able to take several pictures of it before it break and fall. =)

Looking at my crayfish first thing in the morning, it has molted!!

 I took these pictures in front of my fish tank's lid so that I have a black background!  LOL!

 My crayfish looks normal and healthy after the molt.  To me, I don't see that it's has grow any bigger in size.

 My husband was changing water for the crayfish, so he put it in a sink and let it swim for a bit.
